The purpose of this study is to develop a dropout scale for the cause examination as a first step in determining the cause on dropout in corporate e-learning, and test the validity and reliability the scale. For this, 38 items were tentatively decided after reviewing literature and preceding research.
Based on 38 items, we analyze survey data for 400 employees in an e-learning of S company. For item analysis, EFA was performed with 207 participants(persistence n=156, drop-out n=51). In order to validate the scale, CFA was conducted to other 193 participants(persistence n=147, drop-out n=46).
Therefore, we had the reliability and validity of the new scale. The results of present study yielded seven factors with 35 items: 1) learning content and evaluation; 2) learners’ characteristics; 3) interaction; 4) value of the courses in e-learning; 5) instruction design; 6) value of the course; and 7) support in e-learning.
