This study was to analyze the relative efficiency ofBK21 research teams performance by
contrasting outcomes(education and research)to inputs(human resources and finance).Total323
research teams were classified into large-scale and small-scale first, and then three different
fields-basicsciences,appliedsciences,andhumanities& socialsciences.Thedatawasconstructed
basedoneachteam\'sannualreportandanalyzedbyemployingDataEnvelopmentAnalysis(DEA)
and Logistic regression. The results ofDEA showed the relative efficiency ofeach team with
regard to other teams performance within the field and provided targets for performance
improvement.Inparticular,researchteamsinsmallscale-basicsciencesshowedthehighestlevel
ofefficiency. The results oflogistic regression presented that,in the field oflarge scale-basic
sciences,thenumberoffaculty membersin teamshad negativeinfluence,butstudentsresearch
accomplishment had significantly positive impact on efficiency scores. Students research
accomplishment also had significantly positive influence in the field of applied sciences, and
faculty\'s as wellas researchers\'accomplishmenthad significantimpactin humanities & social
