본 연구는 대학생의 거부민감성과 대인불안의 관계에서 자기개념 변인의 매개효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 대학생의 거부민감성이 대인불안에 영향을 미치는데 있어 자기개념이 매개변인으로 작용할 것으로 예측하였고 이를 확인하기 위해 서울, 경기, 전라도 지역의 4년제 대학교에 재학 중인 1, 2학년 남녀 대학생 498명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 거부민감성 질문지, 대인불안 척도, 자기개념 척도를 사용하여 각 변인을 측정하였고, 수집한 자료는 t 검증, 단순회귀분석 및 Baron과 Kenny의 매개효과 검증 절차를 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과, 남·여 대학생 모든 집단에서 거부민감성과 자기개념이 대인불안의 예측변인으로, 즉, 거부민감성은 높을수록 그리고 자기개념은 낮을수록 대인불안이 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 거부민감성이 대인불안에 영향을 미치는 경로에 있어 자기개념의 매개효과를 살펴본 결과, 여자 대학생 집단에서 자기개념은 유의한 수준에서 거부민감성과 대인불안의 관계를 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 여자 대학생의 거부민감성이 대인불안에 직접적인 영향을 미침과 동시 자기개념을 매개로 하여 간접적 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있다.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effects of self-concept on the relationships between rejection sensitivity and social anxiety within human relationships. In terms of the impact that university students' rejection sensitivity has on social relations, self-concept was suspected to act as an influencing factor and this was confirmed. A survey was conducted using 498 male and female undergraduate university students from Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Jeolla provinces. The revised Reject Sensitivity Questionnaire, Interpersonal Anxiety Scale and Self-Concept Scale were used as measurement tools and the data collected were analyzed by t-test, simple regression analysis and Baron and Kenny's test of mediation effects. The major findings of this study were as follows; rejection sensitivity and self-concept are predicted to have an influence on social anxiety. In other words, as rejection sensitivity increases and self-concept decreases, social anxiety is likely to increase. Additionally, while attempting to understand the effects that rejection sensitivity has on social anxiety, self-concept is considered as a parameter to cause a link between rejection sensitivity and social anxiety in female university students. Thus, female university student's social anxiety is directly influenced by rejection sensitivity at the same time as self-concept operates indirectly in terms of influence.
