The purpose of this research was to identify the effect of linguistic activity through music
appreaciation on an infant’s linguistic creativity & expression.
This research selected 40 infants full four or five of age going to K kindergarten located
at Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeoggi-do based on random sampling
To identify homogeneity between two groups, this research conducted t-test using
pre-test grades and verified the difference between two groups by conducting t-test using
post-testing grades for effect verification after doing experiments.
The results of this research are summarized as follows:
First, the linguistic activity through music appreciation was found to have an effect on an
infant’s progress in linguistic creativity. However, among the subordinate factors in linguistic
creativity-imaginative power, fluency, and originality, imaginative power didn’t show a
statistically significant difference, but in fluency and originality, the experiment group who
participated in linguistic activity through music appreciation appeared higher than the
comparison group who was offered music appreciation and narrative-sharing, which indicates
the linguistic activity through music appreciation has a positive effect on an infant’s
linguistic creativity.
Second, the linguistic activity through music appreciation was found to be effective for an
infant’s improvement in linguistic expression. It was found that an infant had one’s number
of vocabularies for expression, number of sentences and the length of a sentence increasing
while expressing one’s thinking and feelings in language, which indicated the linguistic activity through music appreciation had a positive effect on the improvement in an infant’s
expressive power of language.
