이 논문은 가족관계에서 발생한 ‘갈등’을 다룬 구전설화 중 ‘파격’이 나타난 경우를 고찰 한 논문이다. ‘파격’이란 ‘깨뜨리기’이다. 낯익은 것, 익숙한 것, 흔한 것, 일상적인 것을 깨 뜨리는 것이다. 깨뜨리기는 기존의 것만으로는 어떠한 목적을 이루기 힘들 때 동원하는 수 단이라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 ‘욕망의 충돌’로 인해 빚어지는 ‘갈등’의 발생 상황에서 해결까 지의 과정을 다루는 서사물에 나타난 ‘파격’에 대해 살펴보는 것은 매우 흥미로운 작업이다. 갈등의 발생 상황과 해결과정에 나타난 파격은 크게 세 가지 경우가 있다. 또 해결 과정 에서 결과가 바람직한가 그렇지 않은가를 나누면 네 가지가 된다. 결국 모두 다섯 가지 경 우의 수가 존재한다. 그것은 갈등 발생 상황에만 파격이 나타나는 경우, 갈등 해결 과정에 만 파격이 나타나는 경우(바람직한 결과 여부에 따라 두 가지로 나뉨), 갈등의 발생 상황과 해결 과정 모두에 파격이 나타나는 경우(바람직한 결과 여부에 따라 두 가지로 나뉨) 등 다 섯 가지의 경우이다. 다섯 가지 경우에 해당하는 여러 설화 텍스트에 대한 고찰을 통해 ‘파격’이 요구되었던 이유를 어느 정도 밝혀낼 수 있다. 우선 도덕, 윤리나 이념 등 기존의 통념이라고 할 수 있 는 것을 비판하거나 넘어서려는 시도를 하는 데에 파격이 필요했다고 보인다. 신분제도를 넘어서려 했던 백정, 시부모의 횡포를 바로잡고 싶어 했던 며느리의 이야기 등에서 그러한 점이 보인다. 물론 기존 이념을 수호하거나 강화하려는 확고부동한 의식이 파격을 요구하 는 경우도 있다. 자식을 죽여서라도 부모를 봉양하고자 했던 이야기나 악한 계모를 잔혹하 게 징치한 이야기, 목숨을 버려 도덕적 금기를 지키는 이야기에 그러한 면모가 잘 드러나 있다. 그러나 이 경우에서도 도덕이나 윤리를 강화하는 이면에 도사린 위기 의식, 도덕 체 계의 폭력적 억압에 질식당하기를 거부하는 인간의 고뇌를 느낄 수 있다. 한편으로는 파격 성이 갈등 상황의 발생과 해결에 직접적으로 관여하기보다는, 서사 전개의 여러 층위에서 관습적으로 반복되는 파격의 내재화를 통해 신화적 사고의 편린, 그림자, 또는 자장(磁場)이 여전히 작동하고 있음을 보여주기도 한다. 결국 파격의 서사적 효과는 깨뜨리기를 시도하 는 우리 인간의 지난한 노력과 맥이 닿아 있었다고 할 수 있다.
This thesis is studied on ‘Breaking rules’ in folktales which narrate about ‘Conflict’ came from family relation. ‘Breaking rules’ means breaking something like common, familiar, plentiful and daily. ‘Breaking’ is a mobilized means when it is hard to achieve the goal with the existing means. So it is very interesting to study on ‘Breaking rules’ which was appeared between the outbreak and resolution in ‘Conflict’ originated in ‘Collision of desire’. There are three main classifications of ‘Breaking rules’ come from circumstance of outbreaking conflict and procedure of conflict resolution in narrative text. Furthermore it could be five different classifications by conclusion is advisable or not in detail. First, ‘Breaking rules’ appears only in circumstance of outbreaking conflict, only in procedure of conflict solution(it divided two classifications by conclusion is advisable or not), in both circumstance of outbreaking conflict and procedure of conflict solution(it also divided two classifications by conclusion is advisable or not). At least it could be revealed why ‘Breaking rules’ was needed after studying five types of folktale. It seems ‘Breaking rules’ was a way of criticizing or getting over accepted idea(common idea) such as morals, ethics and ideology first. It shows the stories of a butcher’s attempt to break the gap among social Also immovable ritual which protects or strengthens prevailing ideology sometimes needs ‘Breaking rules’. The stories of caring one’s parents through sacrificing(killing) own child, punishing evil stepmother brutally, killing oneself but for keeping taboo explain well. However, in those we can find out human’s affliction to deny violent oppression in system of morals and consciousness of conjuncture behind intensifying morals or ethic. In the other side ‘Breaking rules’ explains a part, rouge or field of mythological think still works by internalization ‘Breaking rules’ which is customarily repeated from many sides of development of narratives rather involves occurrence and resolution directly. At last, the effect of ‘Breaking rules’ was closed to miserable efforts for trying to ‘Breaking’.
