This study is conducted to help young children establish a desirable sense of values as members in a changing and diverse modern and future society and build up a future of happiness with the leadership and creativity that is needed. The purpose of this study is to research the future-oriented children’s Images in Korean traditional fairy tale picturebooks which contain the tradition, culture, and sense of the values of our ancestors.
Twenty nine Korean traditional fairy tale picturebooks, which children appear in, are analyzed
according to Hatch(2008)\'s analysis methods. The results of analysing future-oriented children\'s Images in Korean traditional fairy tale picturebooks by categorizing them in contrast of positive and negative aspects with the binary opposites are the followings: 1) wise children vs. foolish children, 2) children valuing life vs. children belittling life, 3) children keeping pace with others vs. children being selfish, 4) diligent children vs. lazy children, 5) challenging children vs. passive children. We discuss the problems of today\'s young children in the view of the children\'s Images in traditional fairy tale picturebooks, and find out the future-oriented educational implication regarding how to guide young children.
