The purpose of this study was to develop and to validate a test for identifying the types of
learning difficulties. Based on previous literature review and professionals' validation processes, we
developed and calibrated the items through the exploratory factor analysis and the confirmatory factor
analysis. Elementary school teachers of 930 students with learning difficulties from Seoul and
Gyeonggi province answered the survey items, rating their students' possible learning difficulty types.
Through item validation processes, five types of learning difficulties were identified: 1) lack of
learning perseverance or study skills, 2) lack of subject-specific basic skills, 3) accumulated academic
deficits, 4) insufficiency of family supports, and 5) difficulties with peer relationship. Although some
validity indicators seemed to be improved further, there was possibility that the test could be used
for implementing adjusted teaching programs by students' learning difficulties.
