The purpose of this study is to examine social participation of the epilepsy disabled. Survey was
conducted 122 the epilepsy disabled. Collected data were analyzed, using descriptive analysis, correlation
analysis and hierarchical regression analysis.
This study provided valuable knowledge about empowerment and social support of social participation of
the epilepsy disabled.
First, Through the descriptive analysis, this study provides general trait(sex, age, level of education,
marriage, family income) and disability trait(seizure, disability registration, disability grade, double disability,
symptom, medication) of the epilepsy disabled. Second, the results of correlation analysis showed a positive
correlation in relationship between empowerment, social support and social participation. This means that
the level of empowerment and social support was significant in the social participation of the epilepsy
disabled. Third, the results of hierarchical regression analysis tell us that empowerment and social support
took effect as the important factor in the social participation. Especially empowerment showed the highest.
Accordingly we need various policies to promote empowerment of the epilepsy disabled.
These findings suggest the way to expand social support and to strengthen empowerment of the epilepsy
disabled, and also indicate the direction of the future studies.
