The study focused on finding the meaning of an art therapy experience for a mother of daughters diagnosed with encephalopathy. The paticipant was a the mother of the daughters residing in the city of P. The study approached the understanding of the mother's therapeutic experience as an adult female and the meanings that emerged in the process by a narrative inquiry method. The art therapy conducted 20 sessions for four months (from April 27, 2021, to September 8, 2021), each session lasting 50 minutes. In the sessions, a total of eight experiences were discovered: ”Choi Yeonhee, the three in one,“ “The person who comforted my fears by perilla leaves,” “My endlessly sad husband” “Regarding the heartfelt longing and patient waiting,” “My sadness hidden behind the name 'mom',” “A new perspective on my daughters with encephalopathy,” “Choi Yeonhee's bright smile,” “and Opening the door to my closed heart. ”The discovered experience the study was categorized into two themes: “Confronting her own emotions” and “Changes in life.” The art therapy experience allowed the mother to engage with her emotions and reconstructed her sense of self. The significance and limitations of the study were discussed based on these findings.
