[Objective] The purpose of this study is to elucidate, on the basis of the Catholic anthropology of Antiqua et Nova (2025), the educational meaning of Catholic parish faith education for adolescents as a locus of integral, liturgical, and relational personal formation.
[Contents] To this end, this study analyzes Antiqua et Nova and related Church documents, the Catholic personalist tradition of Wojtyła, Guardini, and de Lubac, and general educational theories. The analysis clarifies the formative meaning of the three domains of parish faith education: Sunday school forms learners as persons who interpret the meaning of their lives in light of the Word; participation in the Mass and sacraments forms them as persons who live out the faith through body, time, and the senses; community activities form them as persons who discover their charisms in hospitable communion.
[Conclusions] Two conclusions follow. First, the essence of parish faith education for adolescents lies not in the transmission of information but in integral, liturgical, and relational personal formation. Second, for such formation to be realized, Sunday school should be reorganized as a place of interpretive circulation, the youth Mass as a liturgical environment of active participation, and the parish community as a network of hospitality and personal accompaniment.
