This study investigated ADHD prevalence rate, and tried to find the difference of ADHD traits according
to developmental characteristics and rearing environmental variables(social and demographic variables,
pregnancy, childbirth and child care variables) of 1st grade elementary school children. For this purposes,
datas of 427 childrens, their mothers and teachers from Kwangju city were analysed.
The result of present study indicated that the teachers tend to evaluate children as ADHD more than
children’s parents. ADHD prevalence rate by teachers was 18.0% among 427 children. The compounded
type was commonly observed in ADHD tendency children. In addition, the level of young children’s
activity and accidence showed significant difference on ADHD tendency. And sex of child, economic
situation, father’s age at childbirth, parenting attitude and maternal stress showed significant difference
on children’s ADHD tendency.
