The quality of teaching is related to the student's learnig outcomes. Good Teaching supports and aids
students in achieving high-quality learning. The purpose of the present study was to analyze the conceptions
on 'good teaching' of physical education teachers in elementary school. 287(168 females and 119 males)
elementary teachers in subjected to the study, were selected from elementary school in Gwang ju city and
Cheon-nam province. the survery instrument used for the study, called the 'Questionnaire for consisted of 44
questions on perspectives and characteristics of good teaching. The results of the study were summarized as
follow: Fist, it was founded that importat perspective of good teaching for physical education was forming
the ordering of relationships. Second, it was also summarized that characteristics of good physical education
teaching was such as: contents motivating students and adapting learner's prior knowledge was important
factor, whereas higher level thinking skills was less level of conception; active interaction between teacher and
learners was important factor, whereas giving much interaction between teacher and learners was important
factor, whereas giving much responsibility to learners was less level of conception; helpful technologies and
active interaction were important factor, Performance evaluation closely linked to instructional activities was
the most important characteristic with cognitive, affective, and psycho-motor domains. lastly, form the results
of importance-performance analysis, the characteristics of good teaching in the 'concentrate here' area were
'effective utilization of instructional technologies' and 'instructional environment' with proper physical
equipments. The recommendation that I have come up with is to introduce subject teachers that will teach
physical education in the elementary school system for students from grade 3 to 6. I would also suggest that
a physical education department be set up along with physical education teachers as an alternative to the
current system where the homeroom teacher is responsible for teaching this subject.
