The current study aims to propose measures to improve job satisfaction of
teachers at kindergarten, daycare center and educational institutions through a
survey. Teaching experience, job satisfaction according to teaching experience,
relationship with teaching staffs, relationship with the director of educational
institutions, salary, areas for teacher training, etc. were determined as subordinate
factors of job satisfaction. To sum up the research results, first of all, 58% of the
respondents told about difficulties in interacting with parents regardless of
teaching experience. It was observed that the longer teaching experience they
have, the higher job satisfaction they have (p.001). Secondly, in satisfaction in
relationship with teaching staffs, kindergarten teachers presented better
relationship with teaching staffs and directors than teachers working for
educational institutions (p.01). As for satisfaction in salary, teachers with longer
teaching experience presented higher satisfaction (p<.05). Thirdly, 73% of the
teachers said that collection of kindergarten children is difficult. In addition, 31.2%
of them responded that winter is the hardest season. Fourthly, in a question about
teacher training, 90.1%wanted to participate in teacher training. Also in areas of
teacher training, 26.0% said that they need further training about social
relationship area. And teachers with less than 1 year experience wanted training
about basic living habit area (22.0%). The most frequently wanted training area
was know-how of operating a class showing 35.9%. And teachers with longer
teaching experience wanted training about leadership and event planning (p.001).
Also 61.1% of the respondents said that they want to operate own educational
institutions in the future and teachers with longer teaching experience presented
stronger desire to operate own institutions (p<.05).Harmonious relationship between teaching staffs and directors are required in order to improve job
satisfaction of teachers. Unless they have harmonious interaction, teachers may
have negative attitude toward the institution. Therefore, it is necessary to
recognize the importance of directors for efficiency of childhood education
management.
