본 연구는 영아반 보육교사의 전문성 향상 방안을 제언하는 것을 목적으로 서울시 가정어린이집에서 근무하는 원장, 주임교사 및 영아반 보육교사 887명 을 대상으로 근무 환경, 업무 내용, 어려움, 건강상 문제, 현직교육 등과 관련 하여 설문조사하였다. 그 결과 영아반의 경우, 한 교실 내 1-2 명의 교사가 근무하는 경우가 대부 분이었으며 평균 근무시간으로는 10-12시간으로 나타났다. 영아반 보육교사가 인식하는 업무 중 어려움은 일상 양육활동이 가장 많았는데 이는 유아중심의 교사교육을 받았기 때문에 영아에 대한 적용에서 어려움을 경험하는 것을 의미 하였다. 영아반 보육교사는 대부분 현직교육에 참여하였으며 영아의 생활지도 에 대한 현직교육 요구가 많았다. 이러한 조사결과를 바탕으로 영아반 보육교사 전문성 향상을 위하여 영아반 보육교사 양성을 위한 전문적 직전교육과 현직교육이 필요하며, 영아반 보육교 사의 자격 강화, 그리고 근무여건의 개선과 지속적이고 체계적인 전문성 지원 이 제언되었다.
This study is purposed to investigate how to professionalize the education and care for infant and toddler in Korea. For this aim, the 887 participants complete the questionnaire about the conditions of work, the problem to practice the education and care for infant and toddler and the needs of in-service training. Based on the questionnaire, the teachers for infant and toddler have the problems as only one or two teachers in a classroom of infant and toddler and 10 - 12 hours working in a day. In addition, the teachers have practice difficulty because they are educated as a teacher for 3-5 year old children at the training course. The suggestions to professionalize the education and care for infant and toddler are as follows as, First, to improve the pre- training course and in-service training course for professionals of education and care for infant and toddler. Second, to make a new certificate only for the infant and toddler professionals.Third, to structure the system to support professionals to educate and care for infant and toddlers.
