The purpose of this study was to look over how the students dispatched to Dang(宿衛學生) had influenced on politics, society and culture in the late Unified Silla dynasty and to make sure their role in establishing the ideology of politics based on confucianism from the last period of the Unified Silla to the beginning of the Goryeo era and also in founding the Goryeo dynasty.
At that time, under the inner circumstances, the Silla needed settling the righteous government grounded on confucianism, by accepting the advanced Dang\'s flourishing culture. In the outer country, it wanted stabilizing its politics and society through a friendly relationship with the Dang dynasty.
While staying in Dang, sometimes the dispatched students had a chance to take charge of the government services and it gave them the opportunity to show their intellectual experiences and capabilities. After returning home, they tried to propel political reforms and build a new country to overcome the late Unified Silla\'s political and social contradictions. Moreover, it can be said that through broad understanding about Chinese culture, they heightened their own culture and offered the foundation for the testing system to select able government officials.
