Purpose: The purpose of this study is to confirm effects of
interpersonal caring program on the mental health among vulnerable
female high school students of mental health, and explore measures
to mediate their mental health. Method: For this, a survey was
conducted on girl students in girls’ female academic high school
located in Busan metropolitan city. The Screening Test for Emotional
and Behavioral Development of Youths (AMPQ-II) was conducted on
all the students in girls’ high school. And among the 45 students
categorized as the final ‘caution’ group, 12 students were willing to
participate in this program as a part of a program for improving
mental health initiated by the counseling center of the school. The
period for the program was 3 days from July 31 and August 2, 2012.
Result: The results of comparison of the changes in mental health
scores of the test subjects before and after implementing the
interpersonal caring program indicate a significant difference in the
category of ‘depression’, showing there was some impact. Lastly, the
personal care program applied for this study showed no impact on
the 8 categories of mental health except for ‘depression’. Conclusion:
Therefore I would like to suggest repeated studies in the future to
confirm the effect of programs for mental health of female high
school students.
