The Purpose of this study is to define influence of 2x2 achievement goals and self-efficacy on effort
according to elementary school children's implicit beliefs. This study set up a causal relationship model which
is composed of exogeneous variables as incremental beliefs and entity beliefs, and endogenous variables as
2x2 achievement goals, self-efficacy and effort in physical education classes. The subjects are 392 elementary
school children(Boys: 208, Girls: 184) who live in G city and J province now. This study used implicit
beliefs(Park and Kim, 2010), self-efficacy(Pintrich et al., 1971), 2x2 achievement goals(Wang, Biddle & Elliot,
2007)), and effort scale(Ryan, 1982). By the using ttest, boys show higher performance-Approach goals and
self-efficacy than those of girls. By using the analysis general index, this causal model is proved because
Q=1.99, GFI=.91, NFI = .90, TLI=.92, CFI=.94, RNSEA=.05. In analysis details index, there are significant paths
of incremental beliefs ? mastery-Approach, mastery-Avoidance, performance-Ap, performance-av goals, entity
beliefs→ mastery-Ap, mastery-Av goals, incremental beliefs→self-efficacy, mastery-Approach, mastery-Avoidance,
performance-Approach, performance-Avoidance goals ? self-efficacy, incremental beliefs ? self-efficacy,
incremental beliefs ? effort, mastery-Approach, performance-Approach ? effort, self-efficacy ? effort.
