광고산업은 현재 경제민주화라는 명분하에 다양한 제도적 제재에 직면해 있다. 하지만 광고학계와 현업에서 경제민주화에 대한 정확한 개념정리와 이해에 대한 시도는 부족한 실정이다. 이러한 배경에서 본 논문은 경제민주화 개념을 정리하고, 현 광고산업의 실태 와 현 제도들을 분석하였다. 본 연구의 이러한 시도는 좁게는 경제민주화와 광고산업의 관계에 대한 이해를 도모할 수 있을 것이며, 넓게는 현재 양적 성장을 시도하고 있는 우리 나라 광고산업이 보다 내실 있는 질적 성장을 위한 성찰을 제시할 수 있을 것이다.

본 연구는 PR 활동에서 과도한 본질 활용의 문제와 이를 통한 PR의 자기규제 필요성을 제기하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 세 가지 사례를 선정하여 그 특성과 원인을 탐 색적으로 살펴봄으로써 해당 제품의 퍼블리시티에 포함된 전략적 특성과 PR 논리를 분 석해 보았다. 이를 통해 실제 제품 본질과의 차이를 확인함으로써 제품 본질 과대 PR이 라는 현상을 규명하였다. 또한 이러한 활동이 양성화된 원인과 한계를 PR 실무자들과의 심층면접을 통해 분석하였다.
