the recent years, there have been vigorous efforts towards identification of the active secondary metabolites from various plants. These include mostly glucosinolates and their hydrolysis products such as isothiocyanates; flavonoids, alkaloids, limonoids, quassinoids, saponins, and the more recently probed essential oils, among others. And despite their overwhelming potential, variabilities in quality, efficacy, potency and composition continue to persist, and commercialization of new botanical... -

Korean society have notably shifted, there is a significant shortfall in the ethical development of Korean young people. This manifests itself in all manner of irresponsible and immoral practices in the lives of those of the younger generation. At Cheongshim International Academy, we are attempting to test the boundaries of what the establishment of a religious education program can mean for the development of Korean young people. The preliminary results of this enterprise seem to be promising. -

tahrs. The remaining females had higher levels of estradiol, and the red crayon marks were clearly shown. The cervical folds of these tahrs were readily penetrated and the insemination gun was smoothly inserted into the uterine body. In conclusion, a Korean domestic goat with its chest crayon-harnessed was successfully used to detect estrus of Himalayan tahrs. This technique might be utilized as a part of breeding programs for wild goats and avoid the need for a vasectomy of conspecific males. -

The present study is the first to report the relationship between epidermal gene expression and histologic morphology of the skin in normal dogs. Further studies will be essential to fully understand the pathogenesis of skin barrier dysfunctions in canines. -

a total of 56 pigs showing the symptoms of postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS), 15 pigs were PCV2 positive and 5 pigs, which showed stronger positive signals over multiples tissues were further investigated. This study showed that in PCV2-infected lymphoid tissues, particularly mandibular lymph node, spleen and tonsil, IL-10 expression was mainly localized in T-cell rich areas but rarely in B cell rich areas. IL-10 was highly expressed in bystander cells but rarely in PCV2-infected... -

(n = 239) were aseptically collected from lactating cows in the Rift Valley of Kenya and tested using the CMT, somatic cell counts (SCC) and bacterial culture. The samples were also screened for violative drug residues using the commercial delvo test and compared to the milks mastitic status for possible association. There was a numerical but non-significant (p > 0.05) difference evident in the frequencies observed using the three different mastitis indicators. The prevalent bacterial species... -

fast tempo for performance. Total 11 pieces for recorder duets were chosen from music textbooks for grades 3-6 of elementary school. Using these sound sources, students can develop their "inner hearing" to imagine or listen to the sounds of counterparts while playing their own part. In addition, evaluating the developed app by four pre-service elementary school teachers in terms of content, educational utility, performance, and functionality was also executed in the study. Through this study, it... -

a result of the study, first, in music textbooks, activities for music appreciation were presented to listen to music with imagination through various senses such as visual, auditory, and physicality to understand music. Second, in the music textbooks of the third and fourth grades, a learning environment, which is creating imagination, is provided through activities for music appreciation using various materials such as pictures, stories, and videos, but imagination activities through musical... -
The stages of psychological adaptation in response to short term body weight support treadmill training in persons post-stroke: A case study

and outcome stages. Such psychological adaptation process was observed in the participant, in response to the level of functional recovery of the participant. Treating psychological distress in the first stage may be one of the factors responsible for better motor performance post BWSTT and needs to be systematically investigated. Achieving trust stage in psychological adaptation should be considered a major goal to accelerate functional recovery in the outcome stage of stroke rehabilitation. -

of 5 sets of 26 exercises, with 10∼15 repetitions at 60∼80% of 1 repetition maximum and a 60∼90-s rest interval between sets, performed 6 times/week. UA or placebo was orally ingested as 1 capsule 3 times/day for 8 weeks. The following factors were measured pre-and post-intervention: body composition, insulin, insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), irisin, and skeletal muscle strength. Body fat percentage was significantly decreased (p<0.001) in the RT+UA group, despite body weight, body mass... -

an antidepressant called Fluoxetine was employed to verify other potential amino acids which were not identified by data statistics. Eventually, we found L-α-amino-adipic acid could also become a new potentially secondary biomarker of depression after drug validation. In conclusion, we suggested that L-aspartic acid, L-glutamine, taurine, γ-amino-n-butyric acid and L-α-amino-adipic acid might become potential biomarkers for future diagnosis of depression and development of antidepressant. -

Mexiletine (50 mg/kg, i.p.) did not produce significant neuro-protective effect. It may be concluded that the neuroprotective effect of carbamazepine may be due to increase in synthesis of neurosteroids perhaps by activating enzyme (3α HSD) as indomethacin attenuated the neuroprotective effect of carbamazepine. The sodium channel blocking effect of car-bamazepine may not be involved in neuroprotection as mexiletine, a sodium channel blocker, did not produce significant neuroprotective effect. -

Vitamin D deficiency is prevalent, primarily due to limited sun exposure, which may be observed in urban areas, or as a result of modern lifestyles. Common myths about vitamin D persist, including that it is mostly obtained from the diet and is only essential for bone and mineral homeostasis. Nonetheless, advances in biomedical science suggest that vitamin D is a hormone that is integral to numerous physiologic functions in most cells and tissues. Therefore, abnormal vitamin D levels may... -

of these drugs are very common. Morphine, heroin, cocaine, nicotine and alcohol are the most commonly abused drugs, and their use is associated with various types of renal toxicity. The renal complications include a wide range of glomerular, interstitial and vascular diseases leading to acute or chronic renal failure. The present review discusses the renal toxicity profile and possible mechanisms of commonly abused drugs including morphine, heroin, cocaine, nicotine, caffeine and alcohol. -

than that in lateral and rotational mobilities by lidocaineㆍHCl. LidocaineㆍHCl alters the stereo or dynamics of the proteins in the lipid bilayers by combining with lipids, especially with the annular lipids. In conclusion, the present data suggest that lidocaine, in addition to its direct interaction with proteins, concurrently interacts with membrane lipids, fluidizing the membrane, and thus inducing conformational changes of proteins known to be intimately associated with membrane lipid.
