Cultivating a Common Faith: John Dewey on Religion and Education
Larry A. Hickman 한국종교교육학회 종교교육학연구 20 Pages
한국종교교육학회 종교교육학연구 2004, 제 18권 3 59-78 (20 pages)
John Dewey s lifelong attention to religious themes found expression in his 1934 book A Common Faith. Among the pragmatic themes he developed there are that: a) human experience left to develop without outside interference is capable of generating ideals and values, and b) beliefs that are true, including religious beliefs, are so only when they have been tested in the laboratory of experience. Rather than choose among the world s religions, Dewey emphasized the religious quality that... -

Twenty-four cats were divided into 3 groups: control (no medicine), firocoxib-1 (1 mg/kg/day) and firocoxib-3 (3 mg/kg/day). Colorado pain scale scores (CPSS), composite pain scores (CPS), and buccal mucosal bleeding times (BMBT) were recorded in blinded fashion before induction and 2, 5, 8, 24, 30, and 48 h post-operation. The average CPSS (mean ± SEM) over 2 to 48 h post-operation in firocoxib-3 (0.4... -

mid and top grain yield ranked cultivars (R2=54%, 78%, respectively) indicating that a higher amount of accumulated rainfall in this period increased chances of getting a higher yield response from fungicide application. Cultivars treated with a fungicide had slightly higher protein content (up to 0.5%) compared to non-treated. These results indicate that application of fungicides when there is sufficient moisture in May and June may increase chances of profitability from fungicide application. -

In Sweden, the public home help services (PHHSs) have been given to the elderly to live at their homes as long as they do not need a comprehensive supervision and care since 1960. The PHHSs in Sweden led to the change of care paradigm from institutional care to care at elderly's own home, resulting in that the responsibility of caring for the elderly is transferred from the family to the public domain to a great extent. However, the PHHSs in Japan were not well developed until the early 1990s.... -

한국조형교육학회 조형교육 2013, 제 46집 14 333-359 (27 pages)
The reasons visitors go to museums can be organized into three broad categories: (1) social-recreational reasons; (2) educational reasons; and (3) reverential reasons (Graburn, 1977; Falk & Dierking, 1992). Museums, then, serve the public in a wide variety of ways, as exhibition places for art and artifacts and, at the same time, as venues for social and educational events.
