The purpose of this study was to show background and validity of school-based
enterprises operation in special schools. For this, results and trends of vocation education
in special schools, states of school-based enterprises operation in general schools and
validity of school-based enterprises operation in special schools were analyzed. As a result
of consideration of \'special education law for individuals with disabilities and others\'
which was enforced recently, \'promotion of industrial education and industry-academic
cooperation act\', \'special education curriculum\' which was revised in 2008, and needs of
special schools that lack of the industry field training site for special school\'s students and
vocational education type of special schools, it showed validity. Also, on the basis of
analysis, it was suggested that special schools should prepare appropriate human
resources and facilities, and do not compete with companies in community, and select
carefully the business items, and revise \'regulation of school-based enterprises operation\'
for schools for the blind.
