The purpose of this study was to verify how much influence personal environment, family
environment, and college environment have on adaptation to college life, and to provide basic
materials for controlling or managing influencing factors on adaptation to college life in order to
improve college life. The research participants were 1,783 freshmen of K college located at Gyeonggi
Province, and frequency analysis, analysis on the average value, correlation, and regression analysis
were conducted. In summary, the results of this study were as follows. First, as for the personal
environment, adaptation levels to college life were significant differences according to the sex. The
male students were higher than female students in adaptation levels to college life. As for the family
environment, the lower household monthly income, the higher adaptation levels to college life. As for
the college environment, there were significant differences according to the extent to which satisfied
with the majors, whether they plan leave of absence or leave school, and their target degree. Second,
as for the influencing factors on adaptation levels to college life, the explanatory power of the model
for factors and influences was 15.9%. The influencing factors showed the sex in personal
environment, household monthly income in family environment, satisfaction of the majors, target
degree, and whether they plan leave of absence or not in college environment. Third, as for the
result of regression analysis with same variables for students who had under 65 points in adaptation
levels to college life, the explanatory power of the model for factors and influences was 10.1%, but
the influencing factors showed satisfaction of the majors.
