"This paper has been focused on identifying aspects of “Kongbang” showed in women's self narrative. Here the main intention of the study was to find out the ways of signifying hardships showed in self narrative. On chapter 2, the paper intended to find out the mechanism of husband's “Kongbang”. The speaker of this case, understands her life-type of “Kongbang” as a qualifying examination for a daughter-in-law. They consider “Kongbang” as the fate being accepted unintentionally. On chapter 3, the paper intended to find out the mechanism of wives' “Kongbang”. First, they turn down a request for sharing a bed with. Second, they deprive their husbands of their saisfacion or pleasure as a compensation for feeling of being mistreated. Women, lived “Kongbang”, regard their situations as unsuitable so they accept the status of a wife and a daughterin-law under compulsion. Therefore, they looked like playing passive roles in their married life. But as a matter of fact, they have an active stance with reference to their identity. In a conclusion, this paper found out that “Kongbang” takes on the character of transition rites and the story of “Kongbang” shows us the aspect of life in transition between a premodern way of thinking and a modern way of thinking or between the upper classes and the lower classes.
