“읽기에 대한 단순 관점 모델(Simple View of Reading)”에 근거하면 읽기독해는 단어재인과 듣기이해 능력의 조합에 의해 결정된다. 이 두 요소는 숙련된 독자가 되기 위해서는 필수적 이다. 한편 독해에 어려움을 지닌 다수의 읽기장애 학생은 단어재인에는 문제가 없으나 듣 기이해에서 문제를 가진다. 따라서 본 연구는 그림책 읽어주기 중재가 이러한 특징을 지닌 초등 고학년 읽기장애 학생의 독해력 향상에 효과가 있는지 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 P시에 위치한 U초등학교 특수학급에 재학 중인 학습장애 학생 3명을 대상으로 중다 기초선 설계를 적용하여 중재를 실시하였다. 그 결과, 그림책 읽어주기 중재는 독해에 어려움을 지닌 읽기장애 학생의 독해력에 효과적이며 그 효과가 휴지기 이후에도 유지된 것으로 나타났다.
The “Simple View of Reading” consists of two components: word recognition and listening comprehension. These components are necessary for skilled reading. A poor reader who has no problem with word recognition, often has a problem with listening comprehension. This study is aimed to investigate the effects of utilizing picture books for students with reading comprehension problems. Three participants of this study were behind by two years in their grades in listening comprehension and reading comprehension. But they didn't have a problem with word recognition. Picture book reading intervention was used to improve their reading comprehension skills. A multiple baseline-across-participants design was used to examine the intervention outcomes. The intervention was applied to the participants throughout 20 intervention sessions. Results from this study revealed that the intervention was effective to improve reading comprehension of students with reading disabilities.
